What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapy is a client-centred health profession dedicated to promoting health and well-being through occupation. Occupations include activities in which we engage in a daily basis such as showering, dressing, toileting, cooking, cleaning, gardening. They also include activities we complete outside the home including shopping, banking, attending social groups and your profession. The primary goal of an occupational therapist is to enable people whose abilities may have been disrupted because of accident, illness or disability to participate in these activities of everyday life through rehabilitation, compensation, adaptation and environmental modification.
